BNP Paribas Open 2026, where to watch and live stream

The BNP Paribas Open runs in Indian Wells, United States from 4–15 Mar, played on medium-paced hard court. Bounces and pace sit between clay and grass, which rewards all-court players who can defend, attack and serve in roughly equal measure. It is a Masters 1000 / WTA 1000, the tier directly below the Slams and mandatory for the world top thirty outside of injury. The BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden is the slowest hard-court 1000 on the calendar, by some distance. Courts are paced down deliberately, the dry desert air at low elevation is dense enough to slow the topspin ball, and overnight temperatures of 5C followed by daytime highs above 30C produce conditions where the ball can change weight inside a single set. The combination produces longer rallies than any hard-court event outside the slams, with the seven-shot average exchange feeling closer to a clay number than a hard one.

The combined ATP and WTA two-week fortnight, the largest non-slam tournament on tour, gives the deeper draws plenty of room to breathe. Carlos Alcaraz won the 2024 and 2025 men’s titles. The slow hard, plus the high desert sun on the show courts, plus the windy conditions on the outer fields, mean the seeds rarely lose early here: it is a tournament where the better player almost always finds a way through, which is why Indian Wells favours the form book more than any other big event of the year.
