Lorenzo Musetti
About
Lorenzo Musetti was born on March 3, 2002, in Carrara, Italy. He turned professional in 2019 after winning the Australian Open junior title. His breakthrough came in 2020 with ATP wins over Stan Wawrinka and Kei Nishikori at the Italian Open, followed by his first semifinal in Sardinia. Musetti reached career-high No. 5 in January 2026 after reaching the Hong Kong final and winning doubles there with Lorenzo Sonego. In 2026, he completed quarterfinals at all four majors by reaching Australian Open QF before retiring injured vs. Djokovic. Currently ranked No. 9, he reached Barcelona QF but lost to Fils; recent clay results include Madrid R16 loss to Lehecka.

Playing style
Musetti is an all-court counter-puncher with a vintage style anchored by one of the tour's best one-handed backhands, enabling winners from defensive positions and variety via slices, dropshots, and serve-volleys. He mixes defensive backhand slices with aggressive forehands developed recently for offense, adapting well across surfaces but excelling on clay where rhythm changes unsettle foes, making him dangerous through unpredictability and shot-making flair.
