Victoria Mboko
About
Victoria Mboko was born on August 26, 2006, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, to Congolese parents, and moved to Toronto, Canada, at two months old. She turned professional around 2022 after a promising junior career, reaching world No. 6 in 2022. Her breakthrough came in 2025, winning five ITF titles early in the year, then stunning the WTA with a wildcard triumph at the Canadian Open (WTA 1000), defeating Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, and Naomi Osaka, followed by the Hong Kong Open title, earning WTA Newcomer of the Year and year-end No. 18 ranking. In 2026, she reached finals in Adelaide and Doha, Australian Open fourth round, and quarterfinals at Indian Wells and Miami, peaking at No. 9 on March 16 before settling at world No. 10 in late April with 19-6 record.[WTA Official](https://www.wtatennis.com/players/331006/victoria-mboko) [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Mboko)

In the news
“"I got all four of mine taken out and I knew the recovery was going to be pretty tough for me, so I decided not to play a lot of the tournaments. It was quite an ordeal. I wouldn't describe it as very pleasant, but there were plenty tears and lot of, so’s all right."”

Playing style
Mboko plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand, building her game around a strong serve and counterpunching backhand that allows her to redirect pace effectively. She employs drop shots regularly to disrupt rhythm, combines power and aggression with composure beyond her years, and excels in three-set matches, winning 13 of 14 recently. This tactical versatility makes her dangerous against top players on hard courts.[Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Mboko) [WTA Official](https://www.wtatennis.com/players/331006/victoria-mboko)
