Iva Jovic
About
Born in Torrance, California on December 6, 2007 to Serbian parents, Iva Jovic turned professional in 2022 after reaching her first ITF final. Her breakthrough came in 2025 with a WTA 125 title at Ilkley and her first WTA Tour title at the Guadalajara Open, propelling her into the top 50. In 2026, she reached the Australian Open quarterfinals as the youngest American since Venus Williams in 1998, defeating top-10 player Jasmine Paolini for her first such win, and advanced to her second WTA final in Hobart. Currently ranked No. 16 WTA as of April 2026, she recently reached the third round of the Madrid Open, defeating Magda Linette before losing to Leylah Fernandez.

In the news
“"That was the goal I had set for myself at the end of last year... I was right on the cusp, and I wanted to make a push at the beginning of this year to get that seeded spot. It just gives you a little bit more of a sense of, ‘Oh, OK, I belong here,’ she adds. ‘I earned my spot here and I'm one of the top contenders."”

Playing style
Iva Jovic employs a composed all-court game, holding the baseline aggressively while taking the ball early to dictate with heavy, penetrating groundstrokes off both wings. She redirects pace effectively with her backhand, incorporates angles and depth per Djokovic's advice, and pushes forward relentlessly, suffocating opponents with tactical variety and mental resilience that rarely yields bad days. This makes her dangerous against power hitters by disrupting rhythm on all surfaces, particularly hard courts where she excels.
