How they play

Playing style

Karen Khachanov is a power baseliner leveraging his 6'6\" frame for aggressive play. He relies on a big serve to set up dominant forehands hit with heavy topspin from a full western grip, aiming to dictate points from the baseline. Solid backhand provides reliability, but his game thrives on overwhelming opponents with pace rather than variety, making him dangerous in fast conditions where his movement holds up.

Serve
Khachanov's serve is powerful with good placement, generating aces through his height advantage; first serve exceeds 130 km/h frequently, while second serve focuses on kick and slice but can be vulnerable under pressure.
Groundstrokes
Forehand is his weapon, blasted with speed and spin using extreme western grip for high bounce; backhand is flatter, reliable for depth but less offensive, often used to redirect pace.
Movement
Excellent court coverage for his size, strong legs enable wide defense and quick recovery; prefers faster surfaces but adapts to clay, though prolonged rallies test his agility.
Weakness
Backhand lacks variety and can be exploited with low slices or angles; extreme forehand grip struggles with low balls, leading to errors under defensive pressure, and limited tactical variety allows top players to neutralize his power.
